Is it really necessary to use trim settings when installing Linux Mint onto a new SSD? I will not be using this computer for gaming at all. Will not using Trim affect the longevity of the SSD? It seems rather complex to set it up and I am new to this.
I also heard that it is not wise to set up a Swap on an SSD. Is that true? I am waiting for Mint 17 to be released and it will be the only operating system on this new build.
I was planning on partitioning and having a root, home, and swap partition in that order ( root being Primary and home and swap being Logical ) I will be using a 500gig external drive for storage.
I have a :Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H motherboard
Intel Core i5 processor
Kingston Fury Hyper X Ram 2x4 gigs=8gigs
XFX Pro 650Watt PSU
