It's a fairly simple article, pulled from the original site and redone with more information and better formatting.

Feedback is awesome.

Ubuntu is just sad. Other than fluendo, all of the other packages are in Debian repos, just need non-free.
Like this:
Code:
deb https://deb.debian.org/debian unstable main contrib non-free

Ubuntu is just sad.

I'm not sure what's so sad about it. They provide a nice, easy installation with a single command. Two commands, if the Universe repo isn't already enabled. 'Snot like they can include it by default - well, not unless they want to run afoul of license agreements.

I've whacked the mole for a 5 anyway, but it might also be worthwhile distinguishing between this metapackage and

ubuntu-restricted-addons

?

ubuntu-restricted-addons

Hmm... I'd have to check but I think there's some overlap and that each flavor has its own. So, it might be worth an article of its own. Like, there's a lubuntu-restricted-addons, kubuntu-restricted-addons, etc...

It's a bit late to do anything 'bout it tonight. Probably... I'm well into my third glass of a delightfully deep Merlot. It's Friday night!
