The uname command will output a bunch of useful information, though I think we mostly use it with the -a flag. It does more than that, or less than that - depending on how you look at it. You don't need to get all the data, you can just select which information you'll need. So, I showed some of those options in this article.

I was busy this morning, driving my truck to help people move some stuff to their new house. I didn't actually lug anything heavy, I just drove the truck. Today's one of the last races of the season and I missed half of it! Fortunately, it's an 8 hour race.

I use this command...

sudo lshw > lshw.txt

It puts a lshw.txt document in the Home Folder with all the info.

This being Linux, there's more than one way to skin a cat.

Which is an odd turn of phrase, really. We probably shouldn't be skinning cats, unless we're gonna eat 'em or taxidermy them or something. I suppose we could dissect them for science, but how often are people doing this in countries where this is an expression?!?
