Before anyone responds, let me make this perfectly clear: YES, this is technically a political issue, but in the sense of protecting human rights (similar to the free software movement). That being said, do NOT turn this into a political mud-slinging match.
Recently, the San Fransisco Police announced they were looking into using drones to stop extremely dangerous suspects, and they were rightfully-so ripped a new one for doing so because many people immediately saw how much of a slippery slope it would become. https://www.zmescience.com/science/...wed-to-use-killer-robots-when-all-else-fails/
