At first glance, I would be tempted

Further research will tell the tale. I need time to set it up in similar fashion to Mint.

LM20 is good.....but fairly pedestrian. rock solid....but no wow factor.

I've been using PCLinuxOS since July and it has installed and updates and works OOTB and I have not had any problems or issues.

I'm also using a PCLinuxOS Community version LXQT and it installed and updated and works OOTB and I have not had any problems or issues.

Anything that I needed to learn how to do I was able to learn from the links below.

Laptops seem to be problematic with some Linux distros so I think my next adventure with PCLinuxOS is to install it on a couple of laptops and see how it works.

would be interested to see how everyone gets on with it - i might need a replacement for slackware
Why would you need a replacement for slackware?

Back op topic, I'm happy with my current distro and have no need to try out any other distro :)

2016 Slackware 14.2 released ; Mr V had financial problems not so long back, doesn't really understand importance of noobs and user base. Mr V described as BDFL where "d" is dictator, no suggestion of expanding core team . If i were running slackware if it were a business I would be worried.

I think the more logical choice for you would be either Gentoo or Arch if Slackware were to vanish.
