I found the series at a garage sale cheap and picked it up just to have.

It's a good series if you're into aircraft which I am.

One of my favorites P-51 Mustang.
Good airframe, especially when it was finally fitted with an American built [Packard Bell] RR merlin power plant

We had AC-130 Gunship's in Vietnam.

Technically, that wasn't the USAF at the time. It was still the US Army Air Corps, before splitting off to become an independent branch of the military not long after WWII ended.

That can't be correct that it is the deadliest aircraft in the USAF. The most deadliest aircraft in USAF history are these two, nothing can compete with them.
I think they are referring to accuracy as in deadliest as in deadly - you don't have to be very accurate with a nuke - like comparing a M21 Sniper rifle to a AK47 - which is the most deadliest at 800 yards? - the M21 Sniper Rifle of course - which has more kills - the AK47 at closer range - if I took the Enola Gay and put one 50 Lb bomb on it to drop and an AC-130 with one round of 105MM and say blow up that moving truck which do you think will hit the truck? and which would be the most deadliest - The AC-130 is the most deadliest aircraft for what it is designed to do and that is close air support

I think they are referring to in service.
I think it's hard to beat a mass murdering bomb.
the "Fat Man" nuclear bomb with a blast yield equivalent to 21 kilotons of TNT over the city of Nagasaki. About 44% of the city was destroyed; 35,000 people were killed and 60,000 injured.
It would take a lot of fighter jets to get to the same amount of those two that dropped two nuclear bombs. But as in accuracy as @Lord Boltar mentioned there are currently probably more deadly planes then the ones mentioned in this thread.

Fighter aircraft are not designed for close air support - the most deadliest aircraft for close air support is the AC-130

Actually the F-15 Strike Eagle can carry several B61 Mod 3, 4, and mod 7 Nuke bombs with 170 Kilotons max yield each almost 10 time the size over Nagasaki - the old F-111F could carry 4 of them I know becuase I loaded them at Lakenheath when I was there in the early 80s - the B61 Mod 7 is 340 Kilotons makes the one dropped by the Enola Gay look like a firecracker. Mod 12 is the latest version at 50 Kilotons with GPS guidance and has a Earth Penetrator Warhead for under ground bunkers
