I'm suprised no one has recommended Kali Linux, Gentoo, Arch Linux or Linux from Scratch yet ;) j/k!!

I would also say it's worth having a look at these four.
https://nobaraproject.org (If you are into gaming, but also good for a workstation and is based on Fedora)

Although I generally don't recommend Arch-based distributions to beginners, but you never know you just might like it.

Linux Mint with LXDE run on my Think pad T420 and on my old Compaq CQ42 has Lubuntu 22.04. So recommend both Mint and Lubuntu.

Late to this party, But Welcome to Linux.org Many good choices so don't know if you have narrowed down which one would suit your needs and hardware the best yet. I almost always tell newbies to try several major Distros live and choose the one that fits you the best. There is no best distro just the one you can use and get along with. I use most of the major ones from time to time and they all mostly work , some take longer to set up some just work out of the box. But they all accomplish the tasks I ask of them. So in the end the choice is yours and you'll most likely change your mind as time goes on. So give several a try live and see what you think. Hope all this chatter hasn't scared you away ;)

i think we need to know a little about the computer you plan to put your linux install on?
are you planning on duel booting?

Late to this party

The main person missing from the party is the OP who has not been back since post 1.

Best answer is simply Brian's post 2, IMO.

Locking this thread, if the OP wants to provide further input or ask more questions they can contact staff.

Cheers
