My laptop is a ASUS Vivobook X1404ZA (Core i5-1235U, 24Go RAM, 250Go NVMe).
The system crash randomly (frozen screen, non keyboard), some times 3 times in one days, or once in 3 days.
I tried many distribution (mostly Debian based) like Ubuntu 24.04, Parrot Security OS 6.1, Kali Linux, etc... still freezing.
The laptop works like a charm with Windows 11 Home.
I already did a complete memory test with MemTest86 and with memory test from the Ubuntu boot menu.
Graphic card is Intel Xe Graphic.

I found some topics, with some recommendations :

I'm trying the first recommendation this morning with a new ParrotOS install.

Does anyone has another idea ?

Are you dual booting on the machine? If so, someone with that experience will need to inform you more than I can, but the following considerations may be of interest.

The frozen screen and freeze can be a result of a few things, with the graphics card being one. The driver and/or the firmware are best checked out (see below for some starters).

The amd kernel parameters mentioned in post #1 are not relevant to the intel graphics so they won't have any effect. They are for amd graphics cards.

From the brief intro in post #1 it looks like the graphics card is using the i915 driver for the intel graphics. That can be checked with either of these commands in a terminal:
Code:
lspci -nnk | grep -i vga -A3

inxi -Gxx

With intel graphics the following packages relevant to intel are usually installed in debian:

firmware-intel-graphics
firmware-intel-misc
intel-media-va-driver
libdrm-intel1
xserver-xorg-video-intel
firmware-misc-nonfree
intel-microcode

Some have other names in other distros. Basically, the latest driver and firmware and kernel will put the machine in it's optimal state, so one is best to update and upgrade everything to check if the problems still persist. That upgrading can all be done without using the GUI by booting to a text prompt if necessary.

A reasonable test of whether the graphics card is the problem in the first place is to boot to a text prompt and see if everything else works as intended. If it does, then the graphics is the most likely issue and needs attention. If not, then not and the hunt can continue.

in addition to the above, you may check your storage device for errors. chkdsk and S.M.A.R.T. I realize it is an nvme but even those can go bad. Basically just as above, any problem in the physical system can cause the freezes. You may not be able to run SMART on the nvme but you can check it for consistency. If SMART works test it. damaged files can freeze you also.
