sudo password

I've just Installed Ubuntu and obviously a new user.
1. I am trying "sudo apt update", it asking me sudo password. But it not taking any keyboard input in terminal.
2. There is no sound in my system. It shows Dummy Output.

HOW? Bare mettle [direct to hard drive] to VM or to ext [USB] drive
is it on a desktop/tower or a Laptop? [if laptop, what make & model number?]
is/was the machine running windows 10/11?

It probably is. For security, it doesn't show anything when you type in your password. You just type it and press enter.

Your password is very important...many things in Linux require it...so don't loose it.

Can you clarify more please, you did manage to write "sudo apt update" in terminal, right? So, it takes input from keyboard. Also, not showing any characters or symbols during writing the password is normal in my PC. Only after you hit enter, it'll see if you enter your password correctly.
There is another option that allows certain sudo user to use sudo command without being asked to enter passwords, But I'd rather try to fix the original issue normally first.

Ok, so a Windows 10 machine...

make sure that both Windows quick-start and secure boot are both disabled

with Ubuntu when you put in your password usually you will not see anything, just type it in and enter.

for all Debian based distros, I use ... sudo apt update && apt upgrade followed by apt autoremove

If you continue to have problems with Ubuntu 24.04, I would suggest you make a bootable usb stick with Linux Mint 21.3
