I installed Linux mint 9,it has been working.
Now flash player is DOA.
I tried to reinstal, but terminal wants a password.
I never had a sudo password.
I tried my login password, but does not recognize it for installing programs.
Someone recommended killing the login password, but that still didnt work.
I am the only one that has access to my laptop, and dont need the sudo password.

Linux is nice but security layers are redundant.

How can I get passed this sudo crap password problem, without being a computer code expert/

Any help appreciated thanks

Your sudo password is the same as your login password. If it does not work, then you do not have sudo privileges set up. Some one who does will need to do this for you.

You should upgrade from LM 9 to LM 13. A fresh install will automatically give you sudo privileges.

Another option is to use a live CD to either set set the sudo privilege level for your account or to enable the su function, but a fresh install would probably be better.

Hey Bill thanks for the detailed excellent advice.

live cd

Use your live cd. Before it boot , cancel it and type /bin/bash. Goes in su and type passwd.. Then put a new passwd. Reboot and done. Hope helps
