This is to stop "inside thief" the server has all kinds of protection from the WAN side. If you wanted to make the dm-crypt encrypted hard drive unusable in less than 1 minute how would you do it?
The "would be thief" would know the passphrase to unencrypt the hard drive if he put the hard drive into another computer. The alarms would go off and they would be able to trigger one linux command to the server remotely before the hard drive locks could be broken and hard drive is out.
remove the crypttab file and reboot? or files needed? a way to change the password "on the fly"?
thanks to all.
