Installed Steam on my Linux Mint 21.1 install and it run's well.

I'm not familiar with game controllers and how they are recognized by Steam.

If they (the 2 game controllers that I do have) are seen by lsusb does this mean that they will work with Steam?

Steam is usually pretty good about controller support. Which controllers are they?

I found out via lsusb that Mint see's the Gravis controller-

Now I'm off to download "Warframe" and see if I can play the game with the controller.

Well, didn't get Warframe installed. Instead a much smaller game just to see if one of those controllers worked and the Gravis one worked.

I'll have to join the Steam Forums as I'm 'new to Steam' and don't know how to configure or do a lot of things.

Normally the steam-devices packages providers the needed udev rules for controllers but you can place those files manually yourself too.
1. git clone https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-devices
2. Copy 60-steam-input.rules and 60-steam-vr.rules to /etc/udev/rules.d
3. Reboot your system.
