I'm currently trying to install Linux mint on Lenovo IdeaPad z500. I seemingly can only enter BIOS and boot the usb from Windows settings. When I try to boot the usb, black screen happens. None of the methods I found fixed it.

Did you check the integrity of the Mint .iso file and what program did you use to make the usb bootable with Mint?

What do you mean by "boot the USB from Windows settings"? You should set the computer to boot from USB in the bios, and Windows settings have nothing to do about it. https://www.acronis.com/en-us/articles/usb-boot/
I meant, when I set to boot from usb (in bios), it doesn't work and windows starts normally, so i have to go to windows settings > update and security > recovery > advanced setup and here i choose "use a device". Its the same as in this vide:

hey guys, everything is alright now, i tried another usb and it works :) thanks for help

Maybe the other usb device was on it's way out?

Anyway, glad to hear everything is alright now. Enjoy your Linux Mint!
Thanks for the update.
