Over time I have not seen the "Bad Gateway" Error Code 502 very often anywhere. That full screen message "Browser Working / CloudFlare Working / Host Error (always Los Angles)"

The past week or two I have been seeing this more often here (linux.org) only. I have not seen it elsewhere.

I am not complaining!

Yes, I realize, sometimes "stuff happens" and it's just out of everybody's control.

It seems to clear its self up in a few minutes. I can roll with the punches, really not a big thing.

I just want to know if there is anything I/we can do/not do to help. Also, is there any security risk for me as a user?

I know you administrators/moderators do a fantastic job - thank you

Good morning, [well it is here ..morning that is]
you have read the post on DDOS attacks , as one of the top Linux sites in the ether we are prone to more bot attacks than lesser sites, we have been averaging 2 drop outs a day with a total outage of around 3-4 mins per day, which is not bad, another unrelated site I am a member of was down for 3 days earlier this year and lost a lot of its records [we only seem to lose the odd post]
if you get the 502 then using this tool you can check on this site, admin can tighten the filters at cloudflair, but in doing this causes more complaints about slow log in or having to jump through a couple of small hoops to log in, so @Rob has had to select a balanced setting, which works for 95% or more of the time without upsetting other members.

Addendum, no in general it doesn't affect your security
