It's nice to see totally open (essentially) projects like this. The problem will be price, at least initially. One can find a hundred laptops in the used market that have some sense of openness or at least flexibility in OS choice, still have a good amount of life left, and are much less pricey.

I wish them well, but that's about all I can do.
 
I like the concept but unfortunately I am not in the market for another laptop. Were I in the market for one then I would seriously consider this one as the top of the list of those I am considering.
 
agree on the price; i can pretty much replace any part and fix any tower, but even then my eyes are not as good as they used to be. Never did get into taking laptops apart- i like the concept although they don't say as far as i can see where you get compatible parts apart from them selves i guess
