I saw an ad for this and it has something to do with web pages from what I remember.
What is it, and is it something I can run with Linux?
Is it a browser?
Advantages/Disadvantages?

I think you mean Opera, which is a web browser based on Chrome,

Opera was once the greatest browser in the world. They had a Linux version long before others did.

However, you had to pay for it. I was one of those people who paid for the software because it was that forward thinking. They led the way in browser tech and standards.

That was a long time ago. Today, they're 'just a Chromium fork' with some additional features.

Sorry about the mis-spell.
Yes. Opera.
So it sounds to me like I should just avoid it. Is that my understanding?
I got all excited thinking I stumbled on to something good.

Oh, it's a perfectly usable browser. Feel free to use it.

They're just not the same company they once were. The original company was sold to a Chinese company (not that that's necessarily a bad thing) and they revitalized it by switching to a Chromium base.

Well, I'm on Firefox now, and have been for awhile. As I have mentioned in the past, I don't have a "go to" person to inquire about my concerns with Linux or with on-line issues. I believe I used Chrome several years ago, but changed to Firefox after I heard something negative about Chrome. I don't remember if it had to do with privacy, or was a security concern. Did not know Chrome went to China. To me, that's disappointing. Wish I had a friend here that is tech savvy. I really do.

I have Google Chrome but most of the time I use Brave...https://brave.com/download/ which is very fast.

You have an entire forum of friends here. Just post whatever question you need an answer to, and you will get answers. Some of your questions may not concern Linux, so post those in the Off Topic area

I actually use (within reason) Brave's "AI" responses quite a bit. I don't use those answers blindly but to remind me of stuff or to start deeper research. I find it legitimately beneficial.
