Hello everybody, it’s my first post on any linux forum, in fact I’m a new user since 2/3 weeks.
I’ve tried many distro ! Ohlala ! Maybe 20, something like this.
I like so much PureOs from GNU/Linux distro
I had no problem to install it the first time at all, second also but...
When booting just after bios message, at the moment to enter my passphrase to decrypt my ssd I got a black sceen withe this text
« Attempting to decrypt master key...
Enter passphrase for hd0,msdos2 (########my#hash######): »

BUT

I can’t enter anything, keyboard doesn’t work, I only can ESC to enter in grub rescue> . The orher issue is than keyboard is now in qwerty and i doesn’t have access to « ( ) « this caracters.

The first time I installed PureOs I had not this problem, screen gave me a little grey box to my decrypt pass.

After press ESC :

« error: Passphrase not supplied.
error: no such cryptodisk found.
error: ‘cryptouuid/#######my#hash####’ not found.
Entering rescue mode...
grub rescue> ls
(hd0) (hd0.msdos2) (hd0,msdos1) (hd1) (hd1,msdos1) (proc) »

please help me :c

g'day @Monique and welcome to linux.org :)

i won't likely be the one answering your questions (broken shoulder) but will ask you a couple to help others assist

1.
I had no problem to install it the first time at all, second also but...
did you encrypt on those occasions?

2. dual-booting with windows or just pureos on the computer?

3. luks encryption on lvm, or other?

4. what is your native language for keyboard?

good luck

Hello wizardfromoz, thanks for reply, sorry for the delay I was busy and to be honest I temporary skipped encryption.

-did you encrypt on those occasions?

-yes I did, I had the box to decrypt my disk

2. dual-booting with windows or just pureos on the computer?
-
Only pureos on this ssd

3. luks encryption on lvm, or other?
-I'm not sure about it, I just let default option

4. what is your native language for keyboard?
-fr azerty

On an other forum someone tell me to use 'sudo update-initramfs -u '

Solution
  1. Restart your computer, wait until BIOS/Coreboot messages disappear and press ESC right away to enter the boot loader menu.
  2. Use ↑ and ↓ keys to navigate, select Advanced Options menu item and press ENTER.
  3. Select one of the older kernel options from the list (lower on the list) and press ENTER to boot it.
  4. If you manage to boot into graphical interface, open your terminal and run:

    sudo update-initramfs -u
  5. Restart to see if it will boot normally.
