Hello I have installed Arch linux through Proot-distro on a Smart TV without root.
I am not root

The Smart TV is a ACER V series pro 32inch from India. I imported it to the USA
System Specs are:
Arm Cortex A55 Quad core, Realtek RTD2841a SOC
Architecture Armv7l armeabi-v7a 32 bit processor
Ram 1.5 gbs
GPU Arm mali mp2 (i think not sure)
Storage 16gb emmc flash 5.1 bga chip by foresee
Host Operating system: Android 11 SDK30
Linux Kernal: I don't remember off the top of my head
I have Ethernet 100,
no wifi,
audio jacks,
av or composite input,
hdmi input x2,
usb 2.0
coax i think.

I installed Arch Linux because it supports armv7 not because i know how to use it. I don't have basic knowledge of linux but i do have basic knowledge of computer hardware in general. I need help setting up a minimal desktop. I only have 1.5gb of ram and the host operating system uses 70-75% of it. I can run TV manager and optimise the system and it will get as low as 50-55% of ram in use.

So i need help setting up a desktop environment that is very minimal, the most minimal that i can do in arch linux.

When i login using cmd: proot-distro login archlinux
i get this
rootlocalhost#
and that is all i have so far
So from here what do i do?

From cmd line archlinux arm what do i do from there to setup a desktop environment?

Or generally what do i do to setup a archlinux system

Any help would be much appreciated

I also modified the TV with better cooling and better low esr capacitors and a emi filter, better thermal paste etc making the system run much cooler so its like a mini pc kinda but a tv lol

lol did you overclock a TV? that's kind of awesome.

I've tried arch twice and honestly I didnt like it - a fair amount of config is required just to get it going.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Frequently_asked_questions and https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Installation_guide probably a good place to start. have you given thought to an arch-based distro instead of vanilla arch? EndeavourOS seems to be fairly popular
Thank you for your reply
I haven't overclocked the TV yet... lol but i could using androidtv tools v3.

It is a command line tool for android tvs that lets you connect to the tv over the network and make all kinds of changes.

I only discovered the tool recently.

I am afraid to overclock it, it has a disabled boost ability that i think i can enable but not sure if my cooling solution is good enough for that. lol I wouldn't want to fry it. But there is a built cpu speed manager of some kind.

I would be open to run whatever would run on this thing.
If it were armv8 i would be in business so to speak, but its only armv7l so it is a cheap 32 bit machine. Its a low end TV from India.
I read Arm Cortex A55 quad core and thought linux should run, plus the Acer brand name.

But the tv isn't really made by ACER its made by another manufacturer that pays ACER to use there brand name.

The heat sink was just a little aluminum plate of some kind witch was soldered to the board, I took thermal glue and glued another heat sink to there heat sink making it a larger heat sink with fins. I added little heat sinks to all the mosfets using thermal glue, I took off there heat sink and replaced there thermal compound with high quality thermal paste and added a noctua fan 92mm. I also soldered in a emi filter plug so it can use a pc power cord. I recapped the board with low esr capacitors.

I put some effort into making the tv like a mini pc. That was my plan to get linux running on it. So i really wanted to make the tv into a linux machine.

Funny thing though when i run commands in termux the hdmi ports kinda shut off temporarily so i have beens using a separate monitor for my main windows pc.

Im a little in over my head though because im a windows user ,i don't know much about linux, i would be a linux beginner.

I couldn't even figure out how to get on the arch linux forum with there strange question and answer non-sense...lol code

What is the output of "date -u +%V$(uname)|sha512sum|sed 's/\W//g'"?

I don't currenly have a arch linux machine to run that command so i couldn't register for there forum LOL
I tried installing arch linux in a windows virtual machine but i couldn't even get that up and runnning LOL

Thanks for your reply once again i really appreciate it
