When I view movies on my laptop, there usually are many delays, shown as an open circle spinning around clockwise. Even after trying all of any options available, the circles keep going around. Is there any way to stop the circles and let the movie proceed with out any delays? Thanks, David

Hello and welcome to forums!

Online movies or online movies?

If it's online movie on some website then you need solid internet connection, otherwise you'll need to downgrade video quality.
You can test watching in 2AM in the morning to see is internet is problem.

But it doesn't have to be that, some websites are just bad to stream movies, so finding better ones is what worked for me.

G'day David, Welcome to Linux.org

Which Linux are you using, and which version ?

Which movie/video player is being used?

Are the movies from youtube or similar or do you already have them downloaded to your laptop

if you are streaming then you need to check internet connection. If you are just playing video from stored source, make sure the media is ok. Make sure file is good. If you tell us if it is streaming or watching something you have in hand we can help better.

I have found the some foreign servers are slow streamers so I download the stream then watch it I usually use yt-dlp or video download helper

Yes this works too but I'm too lazy to do that, movie files can be several GB's so download might take time.
Usually when I want to watch a movie it has to work right now otherwise I lose interest.

He is talking about circles going around (buffering) so they most likely try to watch online with bad connection. In that case there's nothing we can do except mentioning the word ''torrent'' (for legal files of course, movies made before WWII)
