I Believe it was @KGIII that first broke the news that Pottering was leaving Redhat. But can't find that thread now.
For those interested He indeed has Left Redhat for Mircosoft.

What this might means to Linux (systemd) I'm not sure. seems He's been doing work for M.S. for awhile while still working on Systemd and Pulse audio for Redhat. ???

Systemd and pulseaudio are not exactly Red Hat products. They may have born there, or from Red Hat employees, but are (L)GPL licensed. There are many companies interested in those products, and not only Red Hat has paid employees working on them.

Microsoft may be very well paying Poettering to keep maintaining some of those features, as long as they are invested in them too.

Well, that's interesting. MSFT is a pretty big contributor to Linux these days, which might be why they hired him directly.
