Hello all ,

Hope you can bare with me with the little details i'm providing :)

I've just had my job handover and I'm not very aware of what every user is doing..
I've been asked by a user to open any port on an RHEL7 server so that that API can access it through HTTP.

I'm asking her what's the port number and she says I can pick up any port to test on it.
I picked up a random port 1619

Now I've done the needed commands and its' not reflecting.. please help

I typed same commands again and worked this time !!
I can't see any difference in commands though
only diff is that first command output is success but previously it didn't generate the output success

That's because you commented out the line where you asked it to do something.
You had # as your promt, and another # in front of your command.

Good eye, @tonyalbers.

OP, I've grabbed a screenshot to help show you were your mistake was, thanks to tony.

The first one commented it out (included an extra # sign).
