plex media server

I am trying to get plex to work with my Ubuntu Studio and it will not see any of my media files. How do I go about fixing this? Sorry for all the posts but I figure that its the best way to learn. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does the account that plex is running under have read permissions to your media files? Are your media files named following the naming standards in the plex documentation? Did you add the correct folders to the libraries in plex? Did you refresh the libraries? Are your media files in a container format that plex can play?

yes I was using the same files in windows. I have them on a internal hard drive. I can see the main drive but no sub directories. How do I change the permissions for that drive? I have seen something about Fstab I think but have no clue.

This explains it pretty well if the drive is already mounted and you can read it that should be good enough. Did youe format the drive to a linux format like ext4 or is it still ntfs?
