That's not good.

Do you still have the grub> prompt?
And, do you know what kernel Kali is using?

I know nothing. Im completely new to this distro and never seen grub like this before.

Once insmod was loaded OP should have tab complete

type in

linux /boot/vmlinuz5 and press tab to let it complete, then the rest of the command

patience, only got one arm and you are both up late

linux /boot/vmlinuz5 and press tab to let it complete, then the rest of the command.

what is the output of

ls -l /

or

ls /boot

and being from australia, my messages have to travel uphill so it takes longer
