Hello

I was thinking of you all (and Linux Mint) today and wanted to shout out for the home team

Specifically, I have an Epson Eco Tank printer ET-2850 - which I generally like- but was suffering from the "wifi not connecting" problem

"wifi is out of order. please contact Epson support 202620"

yeah, right

This seems to be a problem with the wifi card itself, as it is a problem with several Epson eco tank printer models. The suggested solutions usually involve resetting the printer's wifi settings and unplugging printer and router and then plugging back in. Many report that this does not help.

I did find this

which might help, but I just wanted to be able to print without rebuilding my not so old printer

I was afraid that I was about to decend to that ring of hell called proprietary drivers, as I pulled out my old USB cable and plugged my printer into my old Toshiba satellite laptop with linux mint 20.3. It worked flawlessly instantly, and I let out a jubilant yell. It always seems nowadays that all the promises of better living through technology end up in a pile of poop, so it was very satisfying to have Something. Just. Work.

That's all I wanted to say. Thanks to all who make that possible

@jademigo My printer is a constant issue as I made the mistake of purchasing one that can only be used wireless. No wired ports at all. My next one will (if I can find one) be wired.

And, as I very rarely ever need color, I'll probably drop the extra coin to get a non HP single color laser jet. Something about $0.02/page versus $0.08+/page appeals to me. Along with not having to worry about a printer head drying out and ruining a good printer.

Never have printer connection problems again using this.
