Loaded Mint (Cinn) on laptop .. Install seemed fine, loaded updates, a couple of appletts, VirtualBox and BOINC . ALL D/L fine I including work-units in Boinc .

Returned a few hrs later , Nothing will access the net/router . Router and system shows a good connection on either WiFi or wired . IP assigned (DHCP or Fixed) , etc.. . But, NO data. Browser cannot see router (10.0.0.1). Firewall is OFF . OTHER devices online have no issues.

Tried reset, reboot... "Forget" connection , and connects seemingly normally afterwards but still no data. Put wrong info in config or wrong password and it refuses to allow until sorted out so it's obviously getting thru at that level.

Had the same occur earlier with Scientific 7.5 install (same sys) and install failed trying to d/l added packages. One install worked to completion but couldn't get data either but it showed good connection and IP of 0.0.0.0 instead of assigned by DHCP and fixed IP yielded a not assigned statement with no reference to default gateway either . Ifconfig showed proper address assigned and IPv6 assigned but no data . Tried Mint next and it went off clean until this...

Any ideas? Thinking maybe hardware issue but both adapters affected .

Also, laptop is Lenovo V560, 6Gb , Intel I3 (Quad ) and Intel graphics . The WiFi light flashes a pattern . .10...3...10...3...15...3...(repeat). Cannot find anything online to correlate. It can ce switched on/off in BIOS , front switch, fn+f5, or in software.. . Will re-connect but nothing getting through.

IO in networking shows traffic equal in up/down activity. .. WiFi shows up/down activity back and forth constantlyconstantly but still no data pulled for any use.

Im having a hard time understanding thoroughly.

From what i understand your PC is showing a successful connection but you are not able to access the router or internet. can you post the information from "ip addr", "ip route", and "ip link"

Interestingly . .

It was shut off and cooled down . It booted and tried to get data flowing but then stopped to same error . . Set it on windowsill overnight ... Working but data will stop/start intermit... Has to be thermal/hwd error/issue .

Processor temps are reasonable but noticed that they spiked as cpu-util jumped sharply on all 4 cores from something banging away , then releasing. Then networking failed again.. . Even BOINC is nicer to the processors but it wasn't even running.

Anyway ... Solved (sort of ) for now ... Wierd behavior though.
