Not Syncing on gaming computer

I manager to score a free (But old) gaming computer. It had XP on it and I figured I would put peppermint on it. When it finished installing and it booted and logged in, it worked for about 5 minutes then started flipping out and it displayed the following error: KERNEL PANIC: Not Syncing!
Ideas?

Kernel issues...would reinstall with a newly downloaded and burned OS.
