Not sure if I should post here -- I seem to lack contrast on the desktop

So here is an example:
I have Firefox running and when there are a number of tabs open it is very difficult to see where one ends and the other starts.
I've searched in Firefox and in my Linux install and cannot find any kind of adjustment for contrast.

Another example is when I go to a website and they are showing white objects on a white background. The object is completely washed out.

I do not notice this when I play games. So far only in the browser, but I'm here when I'm not gaming or chatting with my wife at work.

If there is something that works I would appreciate it.

System: AMD Ryzen 7 5700 X Radian 7700 XT 32G Memory running @ 6000 Fabric running @ 3000
Storage: 3 Nvme sticks 1T, 1T, 2T

What desktop environment are you running?

There are a few things you can do if you'd like.

I almost always give my FF a theme so that I can see the background behind all of the tabs I have open.
To do that go to Settings in FF > Add-On's and Themes.
Then choose > Themes and type in the kind you like: ie> abstract, solid, etc.

OR>

Go here and select one to your liking.

You could use a dark background rather than having all of your pages white thus words in white being all washed out.
I use "Dark Reader" which can easily be installed in your browser.

Cheers,
Alex

Are we to assume you are running Linux Mint?...it helps to give that info

if so, type 'Themes' into the Menu....there are a boatload of choices there in Advanced settings

In Simplified Settings, under STyle.....clickon the down arrow, and select from Mint-L, Mint-X, and Mint-Y ......this can be a good place to start.
From that point on it a matter of clicking and experimenting until something is found that suits You.

This works for me.....there is sufficient contrast between the in focus tab and the unused tabs....for me.
