There is no sound on Linux on my new Dell laptop.

- Dell Vostro 14 3400 laptop
- Debian 11 (stable) with Xfce, installed in EFI mode
- Dual boot with Windows 11 (on which the sound works)
- Sound neither works on headphones or speaker. The audio output device shown is "Built-in Audio Analog Stereo". No other options available.

What I have tried so far (with help from the kind folks at #debian on IRC)
- the speaker is not muted either on Debian or using the F1 mute key (which also creates a volume popup on Debian)
- lspci: 0000:00:1f.3 Audio device: Intel Corporation Tiger Lake-LP Smart Sound Technology Audio Controller (rev 20) (among other output)
- dmesg: attached as dmesgfile2.txt
- aplay and speaker-test don't work -- they do not give any error, but no sound comes out
- volume is at maximum in alsamixer
- newer Linux kernel installed (from using command apt -t bullseye-backports install linux-image-amd64). During installation various warnings were emitted, attached as install.txt
- fast startup ensured to be disabled (I did it even before installing Debian)
- All Dell BIOS and firmware updates installed.

The problem still continues. I chose to come here because I find a forum format more convenient than IRC. Can anyone suggest a solution?

Try installing: firmware-sof-signed
Then reboot.
