Hi, noob here. As the title says. Everything looks ok. It detects my hardware, it seems to be working, but no sound is coming through.

I tried this https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=377183 but no luck.
It lead me to this https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=322259 yet also a dead end.
Installed pavucontrol and a signal is being detected going in and out, both internal and external (youtube and analog inputs). The only noise coming from my monitors or headphones is the crackling of a dusty potmeter. Onboard audio does work, I can plug my headphones in just fine into the computer, select output, done.
This is the output of my terminal now. What am I missing? I don't need jack for this to work right? The ISO is an official Linux mint distro, installation was flawless and updated immediatly. TIA.

Make that two interfaces. Only this time I could hear it playing very faint with the volume all the way up. So there's output, but for some reason I can only get a clear signal using the headphone jack of the pc. There's a line-out on the back that also doesn't work.
It does in Linux, I can see a signal coming in and going out, everything I plug in and out is detected right away, but can't hear anything. I spend two days trying to get it working, I hope someone knows what I'm talking about and can point me in the right direction. I'm now thinking it could be an issue with the audio via usb configuration, but it's weird the second onboard jack output also doesn't work...
There's an issue with my screens too, I have two monitors connected to the graphics card, one doesn't get a signal after rebooting and I have to plug the hdmi cable out and back in to get it back on. It also shows up as an audio output when I do that. I use the onboard hdmi output for my TV, which always works but doesn't show up as an audio device. If these are related then I assume it's a BIOS thing?
Please send help.

A few observations from the output:

The pipewire sound server looks to be largely installed, so it's best to keep that and displace pulseaudio.
It's not necessary to have both pipewire and pulseaudio sound servers running.
The package: pipewire-pulse, does not appear to be installed. It's best installed to replace the pulseaudio daemon.
There appears to be no wireplumber to manage the pipewire sound server, so install the package: wireplumber.

Ensure that you have at least these packages installed as well (maybe different version nos):
libpipewire-0.3-0
libpipewire-0.3-common
libpipewire-0.3-modules
pipewire-alsa
pipewire-audio
pipewire-bin
pipewire-pulse
pipewire

If you make those modifications, reboot and check the following:
Code:
systemctl --user status pipewire.service
systemctl --user status pulseaudio.service
lsof /dev/snd/*

The pipewire service should show as active, the pulseaudio not, and the /dev/snd/* devices should be controlled by pipewire and wireplumber.
Other than that, the Focusrite unit depends on the driver: snd-usb-audio, which I can't help with.

I was unable to install pipewire-alsa and pipewire-audio. Package not found. No pipewire-jack either. I tried getting them installed manually via github but messed up but had to reinstall Linux, because I somehow shut down cinnamon and it was faster than figuring out how to fix my mistake. Anyway, nothing has changed, my interface still doesn't work, and only theheadphone jack on the pc works but pulse is off an pipewire is on.
Is there a gui or mixer for pipewire like puvacontrol? I'm also unable to install qpwgraph or helvum but I'd like some visual feedback of wether sound is going in or out. Cranking up the volume to 11 trying to hear something isn't a good idea just like staring down the barrel of a gun to check if it's loaded isn't a good idea.
Also, I noticed that some packages were for arch linux so maybe that's why it didn't work, but I could be wrong, I don't know what it meant. Thank you for replying!

On looking at the available files in the release of linuxmint's "Victoria" distro here:
pipewire does not appear, only pulseaudio. However, there are some options for pipewire mentioned here in this thread:

It's clear how this is very frustrating. I guess it's possible to simply revert totally to pulseaudio, about which I'm not well informed.

I wonder what the output of alsamixer says. Perhaps run in terminal:
Code:
alsamixer
hit the F5 key to see all controls, unmute anything that's muted, and raise all volume bars to maximum if they are not already raised. Select the default output and see if that makes any difference.

Ok, I don't know how I didn't notice it before, I'm pretty sure this wasn't the case on the previous install (it likely was) but 3 master channels were muted. It works now. I'll take a snapshot before doing anything else. There's still a lot of noisebleed on the signal from the computer (popping and crackling from the cpu/gpu) I didn't have on windows, at least a lot less, but that's because there's only one electrical circuit in this room and everything is plugged into that. Anyway thanks for the tip, it worked!
