You got me with the beer-like, son :)

Our Admin Rob put those and a few other icons on board around July, I like the Neo one as well, very cool.

Enjoy your piece of Pi(e) over Xmas, and I see you wasted no time getting it into your siggy (signature).

(Xmas and beer) Cheers

Chris

New to Linux OS always knew about it but never really started to look into it till now. Running a dual boot Windows 10/Linux Mint 19.1 with ASUS K53E 237 gb with 8 gb of ram. I'm a fan of both systems and Also Android and Chrome OS. Meh.. on apple products good systems just not my bag.
I'm not a super computer geek at all but I installed these systems my self ;)
I'm a Nissan Technician by trade and a wanna be geek in my free time. I'm a car guy by nature Nissan 240sx.

I'm just here to learn the ways of the Linux. Just purchased Essential Linux Command Line to hopefully gain some good pointers. Currently just installed LInux and It was pretty easy.
I just followed this link and got a scan disk 16 GB thumb drive Partitioned my drive and here I am.
I'm loving this new to me system that I heard about 20 years ago. :D yes I'm old I guess @ 40 .
I still skateboard when my back lets me lol!

I always try to research my interests best I can, I grew up without YouTube so I had to read.
For the $8.00 thumb drive I invested in at walmart to the download you can't beat this OS it's free and solid.
I wish I never bought all those windows disks through out the years but oh well what do you do. hehe
Well my hands are cramping gotta go take my meds seems like a nice forum hope to have fun in here soon.

Hey, I just joined the site as well, I still have not even tried any Linux yet. I am so undesicive in many ways. I am wanting a secure system, not for hacking, but I am big into my informational awarenes and read of all the stories from Git and other sources of the many ways people play games and ruin so many people. I enjoy browsing the internet, I drive truck for a living from Florida to California every week as well as go to school full time while still trying to hurry back home to spend with my wife and child for only 34 hours and getting back onto the road.

I use to be a bit of a gamer when I first got on the road, but here lately for the past three years, I have not even loaded a single game onto a Alienware 15 R3 that has a Intel(R) i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz with for now only 16.0 GB of memory with a 3rd 1TB Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus. I only took a few classes in A+ and C++ back in the Army in 2008 after going in for Signal Support System Specialist and thought is was going to be all about computers and information and hacking, but it came down to it at my first duty station I was just the damn radio repair man. I didn't touch a computer after that until here in the last 6 years.

Welcome to linux.org, @brastem

That drive you do is a good one...stay safe....and remember, all the money in the world is not worth sacrificing either your life or your family for.

A secure system....that would be LINUX

My choice is Linux Mint (18.3)

Join in and enjoy yourself

I have never had any computer training in my life just read a lot on the web. you can learn so much more today then when we all grew up .
if i have a question about anything google is my buddy lol!

On the Linux side of things it is fun to learn, But if ya don't read everything just as the fine print says it can be a nightmare.
originally started off with Linux Mint then when i got my hard drive i went with windows and Linux life is easiest this way.

my best advice about Linux is pay attention to detail like capital letters in command :)

dual boot Linux and Windows for best experience Linux is not a toy like windows

Thanks For Your Service GO ARMY

I started with Linux Mint Cinnamon - found it not be to my liking.
I started bouncing distros aka Distro Hopping looking for something from where I was with Linux as I was brand new, had never heard a single thing about Linux to 3 days later using a computer with Linux on it. I wanted something I did not need to fiddle with, no need to spend time in Terminal to get things working. I had 1 game a MMO Fantasy PVE with basic simple flat graphics I wanted to get running to please the wife. I wanted it to stream over smart home to watch TV on any screen over Google Chrome Cast or other casting service.
I tried a bunch of different Ubuntu derived Distros - just a few Arch derived Distros I could never get that old WIN 95 / WIN 98 game to boot up and play, not with WINE or anything else did it work. Others had success getting it to run very will, I was good at crashing everything was all I got.
I stumbled upon a gaming forum with the OP saying how happy he was to find something that required no editing = zero terminal command to get things to work and would run said game flawlessly. Better then Windows could run said game. I found the website he suggested, found the DE he suggested and installed it. It was and still is as Point and Click let it do it's thing as it was about 12 months ago. For those that are wanting to use Terminal it can be done that way as well. Myself I point left click, click yes button, wait for it to unpack and install through the systems software update center. I have found it to run better and do more faster then any Windows product up to Win 10 Oct. 2018 update. Only because the Window 10 OCT. 2018 update crashed my only running computer I had at the time.

I have been running Solus Budgie started at 3.9999 now at 4.0 like it very well.
The wife really likes it running the Brave browser for web surfing, she likes the block tracker and cookie option of the Brave with the Solus.

I wouldn't mind a nice 86/BRZ/FRS, (I think the FRS are cheapest on the used market)
but for now I will stick with my 71 MGB, wire wheels, chrome bumpers, and no top!
