I'm happy to say that David G. @KGIII is now an Administrator.

David joined the site in July 2020, and in March 2021 on my recommendation to Rob, he was made a Moderator.

He has provided a great wealth of added value to the site and I congratulate him on his promotion.

For those who wonder on how our Staff are structured
  • Rob Kennedy @Rob is Super Administrator
  • David and I are Administrators and
  • Jas @JasKinasis is a Super Moderator

I know David will (continue to) do a great job, as well as help with support questions, but I wonder will he have to retire his old saying

My role here is pretty much just being a glorified janitor.

??

Cheers

Onya David, well deserved !!

Congrats David, well earned. Many a late night spent spam and troll hunting, especially being able to resist the latter's baiting. Tons of contributions to questions and interesting forum content!

Congratz @KGIII!

Just ouf o curiousity what's the difference between the Moderator, Super Moderator and Administrator role here on the forums? I've always had the idea that moderators keep the forum clean and administrators deal with the technical side of the forum software and do some moderating stuff if needed as well.

Basically just the difference in behind the scenes site tools that you're able to work with. :)

I'll mention that I didn't actually ask for the promotion. I was just given it. It wasn't against my will, however.

As I mentioned elsewhere...

I'm still just a glorified janitor. The difference now is that I've been asked to clean the bathrooms and storage closets.

I now have access to some other tools that I hope to not use - bar one... I've gotta add that whole 'wine' like to go along with the 'beer' like. I just haven't reached the point where I have much free time.

It seems prudent to mention that I'm very familiar with forum scripts/software. Once upon a time, I could even hack at a bit of PHP. I haven't done that lately, so those skills are too rusty to depend on. But, I've played with many forums over the years.

They often have pretty much the same features - it's just a matter of where they've put the options in the control panel. After going through the ACP, there's really not much for me to do. Of all the things in there that I might use, they're just user management options - like undoing a spam clean and removing an account that has requested removal.

Anyhow, thanks.

And, thanks for making my 'job' easier. I don't have to do too much.

@KGIII congratulations, well deserved.

I now have access to any of the tools I might reasonably need. So, that's nice.

Really, there's not much more to it. There are now many things I could change, but they aren't things that I need to change. (I'm hoping that makes sense.) The forum is a mature site with all the configuration it really needs. I suppose there might be room for a few more sub-forums, but that's still above my pay grade.

The difference now is that I've been asked to clean the bathrooms and storage closets.

AND .... you get a key to the Executive Washroom.

Now just sign for that here, and don't worry about reading the fine print.

Heh... I am old. I now have enough assets to not sign things blindly. LOL

Really, there isn't all that much more for me to do with the new powers. I can remove accounts when people ask and unban people when they were falsely flagged in the software. That's not a whole lot more.

I mean, sure, there are other things I could toy with - but I don't really see much of a reason to do so. The site is 'complete' already.
