Network no workee

Hello, all, a question that can hopefully be answered here as I am rather new to Linux but an EE so I do know enough to be dangerous.

After assembling a new system, I have no access to the outside world. The OS sees that there's a network (wired) connection but no communications. I've read some 'solutions' online with my old PC but, alas, no resolution.

Hardware ASUS Sabertooth 990FX with RealTek 8111F eth chip, AMD FX 8350, 32G, 250G SSD
OS - Mint 18.1 Cinnamon, Kernel 4.4.0-53 generic

Searches have uncovered many issues identical to mine. The only 'solved' issue directs you to blacklist the r8169 driver and replace it with a downloaded (from RealTek) r8168 driver. This does not solve my problem.

Borrowed a Belkin network card (F5D5000) only to find that this gets me closer but no communications. Both drivers within Mint automatically chosen for this card are r8139cp and r8139too. When I blacklist the 'cp' driver, I only seem to get an IP assigned (192.168.0.15) but no communications to the outside world.

Am I missing something here? Also, there is no eth0, eth1, etc. show as a result of ifconfig... hmmmm

lsmod returns:
8139too, 36864, 0
mii, 16384, 1, 8139too

lspci shows:
08:05.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8100/8101L/8139 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter (rev 10)
0a:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 09)

ifconfig shows:

[SOLVED]

While I found that I need to update the driver, blacklist r8169 and ignore IPV6, I also found that I need to allow a connection to my router... (facepalm).
