I mistakenly synced my local OneDrive folder to the remote OneDrive using rclone, intending to update the remote with my local files. However, the sync went the wrong way, and now my local files are gone. Unfortunately, there’s nothing in the remote OneDrive Recycle Bin because all the files were originally on my local machine.I’m working on a Linux system and need to recover the deleted files from my local OneDrive folder. Is there a way to recover these files from the local Recycle Bin or any other method to restore them? Any advice or tools recommended for file recovery on Linux would be greatly appreciated!Thank you!

The teskdisk program is designed to recover partitions and files. See here: https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk

A related program is photorec, see here: https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec

It's important to not write anything any more to the current system so that existing files are not overwritten and therefore remain in original condition to be recovered.

There are a few ways to proceed. Reading the documentation on testdisk at cgsecurity.org will help greatly.

It's possible to use the testdisk facility from the rescue disk systemrescue, available here:
The advantage is that, as a bootable usb, it's used to mount the local drive without making any alterations to it, which is what one normally wants when hunting for files.

If possible, to be as careful as one can, one can duplicate or clone the disk onto another disk such as an external one, and then work on that duplicate by mounting it so the original is not at risk of being altered or corrupted. One needs a suitable disk for that purpose.

Go to One Drive web, all your files are in your One Drive recycle bin in the web.

G'day alonsomartinez.sonsoles, Welcome to Linux.org

However, the sync went the wrong way, and now my local files are gone.
What happened exactly ?....what caused you to come to that conclusion?
