So I was following a manual on getting a better server for software and searching for a better server I apparently did something wrong and I can't figure out how to correct it.I'll attach the error that I'm getting and can somebody help me out please?
E: The repository 'https://deb.debian.org/debian bookworm-security Release' does not have a Release file.
N: Updating from such a repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default.
N: See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details.

Yeah so any advice guys would certainly be gratefully appreciated. Also, Hello Everyone. Hope everyone is having a peaceful and relaxed day or night. Thanks fellas!!!!!!!!!1

Not into servers, but as a Debian desktop user, my comment is ..depending on where in the world you are, have you tried changing the download to your local Mirror site

Easier to just edit the file. The line in question needs a hyphen.
Code:
sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list
Change it to:
Code:
deb https://deb.debian.org/debian-security bookworm-security main contrib non-free

Guess what? I eventually got frustrated with it and I also had a couple more issues so I just did a fresh install. Solved everything.

yep often the quickest/easiest way

You know, I have Ubuntu on another device and after being on it for a few hours, it'll freeze right up on me and I have to power off with the button. I've done several fresh installs even with different distros and it does the same thing. It's that HP Pro Book with 4 GB of RAM. So I haven't discovered what's causing that to happen. But I will, eventually.

Hey thanks for that advice my friend. I read your response after the fact that I did a fresh install. I appreciate tho.

HP Pro Book
Without it being on my desk it could be a complicated problem, or it could be an easy one, My initial feelings are it's overheating, and the CPU is shutting down, what may be causing the overheating, usually muck, in either the vents, the fan [or if it has veins] the CPU heat sink, it could also be a cooling fan problem in that with age its running slow or not running at all, to clean the muck out of the inside , I recommend purchasing a can of DRY compressed air and blowing it out, if it's the fan running slow/not running then replace it.

Yeah so the fan is working. The device will get to 100 degrees though. The way I know the temperature is looking in the disk file. But I understand what you mean about having the device in front of you, it could me various things. Beside that, the laptop works great. No complaints whatsoever, except the freeze. But I have an air compressor in my shed, I'll blow some air through because that will certainly help. Now that I'm thinking about it, my compressor might blow water in my device. Purchasing a can of DRY air is smarter.

I'll blow some air through b
if it is the type that has plastic ducting, make sure you blow that through, [I have found spider nest in them before now]

Yes you are correct. I can see thru the grill, that it has some type of real fine plastic looking screen. This side of it is clean but it certainly could have an insect or just muck on the other side. My laptop is 2009. I'm wanting to remove the back but I'm afraid that I may really mess something up. There is a computer shop in town, maybe I can take it to them and ask if they'll take it apart and clean it. You think they would? But whoever had this device definitely took care of it because its in excellent condition. If it wasn't getting stuck I could get $200 for it without question. I'm basing that on my opinion you know. But it is something simple. It works great, Then out of nowhere, I'd go to move the mouse and BING!!!!!!! Froze. It is something really simple. I continue investigating like a detective to find the solution. It just drives me insane every time it freezes up because I know its something simple and it makes me feel simple!!!
BTW Happy Thanksgiving to all people.......

Do you have the full model number and machine ID number [usually on a plate in the bottom of the machine]
[or if its running ubuntu, the from the terminal run inxi -Fnxxz and paste the results back

Do you have something plugged into a usb port which does not need to be there ?

Yes. I have recently purchased a wireless mouse so I usually have the little usb adapter for the mouse plugged in, But it was freezing up before that. And like I mentioned before, it doesn't matter what distro that I put on that computer, after a few hours, it'll freeze up. I've had Fedora,Debian,Ubuntu,LMC22,Mate,Xfce and its the same thing everytime. It'll eventually freeze up and I have to power off with the button, I have 3 laptops that I'm playing with and thats the only one that freezes up on me. When i turn it on in a lil while I'll post the inxi -Fnxxz that Brickwizard requested.

Ok yeah, one in the same. If i log in with other account its a different device. That"s the reason. So do you see anything in that inxi -Fnxz

the INXI shows this to be an entry level HP ProBook 4440 from around 2011, the Celeron CPU has a max working temp of around 70 deg I cannot see anything out of place, so I am still thinking heat problems,
clean the cooling system, check the fan [HP's are prone to burning them out] next check the CPU heat sink it may need re-seating with new thermal paste,
lesser possible problems
BIOS needing updateing
Does this happen when the machine is both battery only or when on mains power, if only when mains is connected then suspect the power brick [in line power pack/transformer]
My only other thought is the plate spinner [hard drive] may be failing if you have another SATA laptop drive or better still SSD to can switch with an operating system on it [the age and low CPU spec I suggest Linux Mint LMD ]
