Need help with passwd in Ubuntu (mouse desk top image): every time i use sudo, it asks for password; the only key it will let me use is enter

downloaded ubuntu onto chromebook recently; still stuck with needing password that won't let (unless enter from some other way) me push any other button but enter; when enter is pushed, it says failed password; WHAT TO DO?

if the key strokes for your password don't show up try typing them anyway and hit enter.

The keystrokes won't show up, just ignore that and type the password.
