Dear All Member,

I am new into this Linux forum, and I want to Install and learn Linux, but i am confused which one I should download and start practicing?

HardInfo would help you provide some basics so the members can better address your question. I suggest 1st running a LIVE session with it pre-installed, and as i vaguely recall Puppy Linux had the 0.6 alpha version ready. A few more will have it too but there was never much enthousiastic reaction every single time i mentioned it, go figure why...

I would suggest a well-known distro based on Debian. A lot of users on here use Linux Mint, and it is a beginner friendly distro with a friendly forum (as friendly as this forum). There's also other choices I can suggest if you're interested.

Do you know how to burn the .iso image to a DVD or USB stick?

welcome
without knowing the age/spec of your machine, I cannot offer any suggestions.

Hello @ualvi27
Welcome to the Linux.org forum.
This page maybe of help in getting you started.
Only you can answer which Distro is best for you. But as others have suggested pick on that has good out of the box performance and support from a good forum like this. Mint, LMDE , Debian all come to mind. But download and try several live before choosing.

The best one you will see it, but now install Ubuntu :
Rufus to create a necessary bootable USB-Stick, if you use Win11
I would prefer, dual boot, the installation of Ubuntu will be not more difficult, you will be asked whether to leave Win or not, thats it.
Jump in the water, its a pool, depth less one meter.

G'day ualvi27. Welcome to Linux.org

Lots and lots of suggestions......and there will be more !!

But....if you want the simple approach.....the one with the best support ?

Linux Mint.

Before you do anything.....please tell us about the PC you will use. Its specs...ram, make and model?.....hard drive or ssd ?

What has that pc been used for before this?

Is windows still on it?....do you need to keep that windows?
