I suggest 1st running a LIVE session with it pre-installed, and as i vaguely recall Puppy Linux had the 0.6 alpha version ready. A few more will have it too but there was never much enthousiastic reaction every single time i mentioned it, go figure why...
I would suggest a well-known distro based on Debian. A lot of users on here use Linux Mint, and it is a beginner friendly distro with a friendly forum (as friendly as this forum). There's also other choices I can suggest if you're interested.

Before you do anything.....please tell us about the PC you will use. Its specs...ram, make and model?.....hard drive or ssd ?
What has that pc been used for before this?
Is windows still on it?....do you need to keep that windows?
