I'm boredddd. I am learning programming/algorithms rn and it consumes most of my time. Sometimes, I want to do linux server stuffs. But everything seems either too challenging or not so challenging. Tell me something interesting to build on Linux homelab. I've a blog running on my homelab and it's not fun anymore(technically). I don't want to write articles for a living.

I run tons of stuff on an old thinkcentre, i got for ~150€ without hdds. maybe some of this services are interesting for your homelab

Hey there! I totally get the boredom vibe when you’re deep into programming. How about diving into something like setting up a personal cloud with Nextcloud? It’s pretty cool, and you can customize it to your liking. Plus, you can experiment with syncing files, sharing them, and even adding some neat features like calendar or task management.

Another fun project could be creating a VPN server. It’ll not only boost your Linux skills but also give you some privacy when browsing. You can play around with various configurations and see what works best for you.

Let me know if you try any of these out or if you want more ideas! Happy tinkering!

Write a paranoid nftables firewall.

That will take a lot of time and you'll learn a lot, especially since mastering nftables takes effort because good portion of it is not documented in detail.

Suppose that resource is installed on one computer and i'm trying to compare a handful Linux OSes on another machine running HardInfo, would your boring environment manage to collect each separate report in order to compare them, so to decide which OS to keep and what to discard?

I've spinned up tailscale VPN and it's doing the job for me. ONe thing that I really wanted to do is to setup own email and dns server (to send emails to myself). Is that possible just with a domain name?

It is possible. If you don't have a static IP then you may want to look up 'dynamic DNS' services. There are some that are free to use, last time I looked.
