I have been using Linux since the 1990's with Puppy Linux. Then jumped to Linux Mint in the 2000's. Installed it on a couple of old 2010 laptops with great success. I just discovered Knoppix and find that very useful for troubleshooting old laptops because I can create a fully operational system on a USB stick which I use to boot off when I start troubleshooting or probing the laptop hardware.

Al in All, I'm very happy with Linux. Oh, by the way, I am 84 years old. Jack

I've moved this thread to the "Member Introductions" sub-forum, where it is more appropriate.

That said, welcome to Linux.org!

G'day Jack, Welcome to Linux.org

83 unless you got your birth date details wrong, Jack?

I won't welcome you as a newcomer because you have been a Member over 2 years, but it's good to have your first post under your belt.

Cheers from DownUnder

Hello @Jack Cain
Welcome to the Linux.org forum, Enjoy!

Welcome to the fold, I hope that you enjoy your time with Linux and on here as well!

I am 3 years behind you, Ubuntu 8.04 was my first love, when I retired. I worked my whole life using command line, unfortunately it’s not Unix.

@Jack Cain :- Welcome, welcome.

My "history" is very boring. Six months with Ubuntu - distro-hopping whilst there - followed by 10 years with Puppy. Though I fancy you've got your dates slightly mixed-up, there.....the first-ever 'official' release of Puppy Linux came out on the 18th of June, 2003.

Thought I'd better set the record straight. Our Pup's been around a long while, it's true.....but not quite THAT long! :p

Mike. ;)

Welcome to the forum, young fella!!!!
I just could not resist calling you that, cause I turned 90 a few weeks ago.
However, you have been with Linux a lot longer than I have.
I think you will find this forum a comfortable place to spend time.
Old Geezer,
Tango Charlie
