i was on windows and both of my ssd and hdd were showing up, now i removed windows which was on my ssd which had windows installed. my issue is that my hdd which had my other files isnt showing up and the only way that i found that can make it show up is formatting it form linux mint which will delete all my files, is there any way that i can keep the files and make the hdd show up?

What is the output of ...
Code:
fdisk -l

open mint menu, type discs in search bar and open the disc app they should both show and can be opened from there

Code:
sudo fdisk -l

Open disks.....single click on that drive (just to highlight it)

Then, just below the drive and to the left hand side, there is a small gear icon.....

click on that, and click on Mount Options

Put a tick in these two boxes, then close it by clicking ok down the bottom

Give that a try

is that the drive you are currently on >?

Is there a triangle shape next to gear icon or a square shape?

You are using mint
open your files [folder icon bottom left, and you will get a frame up similar to the one in the screenshot , look down left slide bar to devices all your drives should be there open the appropriate one, I have 3 drives on this machine NVME,SATA SSD & USB SSD this is how i always access mine

This is what i have on the left side bar

Clcik on trhe square once......that should unmount it.

Try again on the gear icon/edit mount options

if you still have no luck there....is Take ownership greyed out as well ?...or can you click on it ?

That works !!

When you get this thing going to your satisfaction it would be an excellent idea fopr you to set up Timeshift.

Timeshift saves OS SYSTEM SETTINGS......it doesn't save pics, music data etc etc....but it will resurrect your OS if something goes south/breaks
