For anyone who's interested MX-19 “patito feo” released.

The install and updates went without problems OOTB.

The few bits of additional software I installed from the MX repository.

I download and installed firejail from sourceforge because I did have an issue opening firefox with firejail from the MX repository.

Installed on this 2006 desktop.

Intel 82566DM-2 Gigabit Network
And this worked a treat for you with no hassles in connecting to the net? Which is good. :)
I am thinking along the same lines in getting an Intel NIC.
I was looking at Intel's archive since 82566DM is now a discontinued model (2011) but you can still get the drivers for it even for Linux.
One reason I am looking at this one costing 2314 Grn (about 95$ US ) should all else fail in rectifying my hassle.

I can only suggest that you save your money. From all the discussion in your other thread, I strongly feel that your trouble is not the NIC or the driver... it is the network configuration. But I'll carry on over there about that rather than here. :D

On MX-19... I just installed it for a friend on an old XP-era laptop with only 1GB of RAM. It was a little sluggish booting and shutting down, but runs fairly well once it gets going. It's definitely a distro worth checking out.:D

Cheers

I quiet agree on that point that is why I said "should all else fail". Never been a Boy Scout but I like their Motto "Be Prepared" ;)
