I am new to Linux and am struggling to understand mount points. From what I have read I must create a mount point in order to access my files on a USB stick. If numerous people are using my system and are all creating mount points for their respective USB drives, then eventually the system will become littered with directories. I (as sys admin) will be unable to confirm weather they are needed by the system or are just junk directories that I can delete. Sounds very messy to me. Coming from windows, if the drive is removed it does not leave any unwanted artifacts laying around. How do you experienced system administrators handle this?
Thanks
