Wanted to move to Linux and I hate Windows 10 and iOS so Linux would be the next stop. I don't have any issues with W7 and I won't even after its not supported. But I wanted to check out Linux.

If I do get Linux then I wanted to make it look like my Windows 7 as much as possible. I use the standard Aero theme with a dark toolbar. So...

Is it possible to make Linux look exactly like Windows 7 Aero theme? If so which version should I get? Is it hard?

I hear Ubuntu is the main one, then I hear about Cinnamon?
Cinnamon is the best for the W7 look?
Then I heard about Mint?
There a place to explain what all the versions are and the differences?
Why is Mint and Cinnamon not on the download page?

I want a new OS that won't force updates, all my software works with, looks like W7, and have NO bloatware. Something as clean as W7 and won't hog resources like W10 at 150 running processes when on W7 I have 35 with nothing running. What should I do?

Hello Broth3rz,

Best advice for migration from Windows to Linux is to forget the Windows Habits.

I recommend downloading Linux Mint 19.1 and test drive it as per this link.
The link is for Linux Mint 18.3 although it works for Linux Mint 19.1 also.

Read as many times as needed.

Here are some other useful links.

You don't list your systems specs so don't know which Linux Mint 19.1 version will work best.

Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon if you have a high powered computer.

Linux Mint 19.1 Mate or Xfce if you have a low powered computer.

I do't have a low end PC so hardware wise its good.

I don't mind that it's not Windows, but if I could get the look then I'd be okay. I'm kinda worried I can't get the desktop button on the right of the Windows toolbar. Turns out I use that... HUNDREDS of times a day, and quick.

So I did hear Mint is mostly like Windows but I also would like to try Ubuntu. But what is the best way to going to make them look like W7? Just download and replace the icons, etc?

Without a willingness and desire to test drive Linux than you will never know how capable Linux really is and what you can do with Linux.

If you will follow this link you can see for yourself without ever installing Linux on to your computer.

I don't mind trying it but I just wanna see how much I can make it feel and look like W7, that's my main concern. The fact that it isn't Windows isn't an issue for me. I know it will be much different and work different.

I'm surprised that someone hasn't made a Windows version where you can select during the install which Windows theme you'd like, W7, W8.1, and W10. Unless there is?

I think I'll try this Cinnamon and Ubuntu. and see how much I can change their look.
