Mouse and Keyboard Settings in LM 21.1 Cinnamon SOLVED

Working on it today, Alex :) . Running a program on another Mint at the moment, when complete I'll slip into Vera Cinnamon.

Subject to that I will likely have another step for you.

I was looking at two (2) options, first would be

1. Tinkering with a file called /etc/environment

and second would be

2. Installing dconf-editor

and working with that. I'll come back to this option if we need to.

1. If you run

Code:
cat /etc/environment

you will likely see just your path in there. I have mine set up in quite a number of my distros as I have in this one from my Linux Mint 20.3 'Una' Cinnamon

Code:
chris@UnaCinnamon-SSD:~$ cat /etc/environment
PATH="/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games:/usr/local/games:/snap/bin"
XCURSOR_THEME=DMZ-White
XCURSOR_SIZE=48

With this there are two key requirements

XCURSOR_THEME=

must be followed with an available theme name in the correct syntax, eg

=DMZ(White) and

= DMZ_White

would not work, and case matters.

You can see with your output at #20 above that

Code:
update-alternatives --config x-cursor-theme

returns output including

Breeze_Snow

I had one distro where the Theme-Settings-Cursor picture such as you had at your screenshsot at #8 showed as

Breeze-White or Breeze-Light for me, but only Breeze-Snow would work. o_O

XCURSOR_SIZE=

Can only handle sizes that are supported by the cursor theme and a lot of them go up in 8's - 48, 56, 64, 72

but I have only had joy with 48 so far.

I have some more, but have to reboot and run Timeshift

Back soon.

OK - in Vera Cinnamon now, and my suspicions appear to be confirmed.

With the archive I downloaded from your link, I read the Readme file, which I have in the Spoiler below

and amongst other things, it has

only 32x32

So it's no good to you anyway?

I suspected that because of your update-alternatives output there was no mention that it was installed, and also your screenshot shows what looks to be a DMZ or Adwaita cursor, not ArchTrix's colourful and stylized options.

So you may need to choose a different cursor.

Let us know where you'd like to go from here.

Cheers

Thanks for checking into the details.

Looks like it's back to the drawling board again for me, I'll have to look for a different cursor and check the ReadMe file to see if there are any limitations. I'll let you know what I find at cinnamon-look.org.

Also, Alex I use a Google search such as

DMZ-White cursor sizes supported

Cheers

I found the page for the cursors you suggested. Thank you for that!

After looking for a while online I found a cursor that I can see now. It's the green Oreo cursor.
It's not my favorite however it works.
