Microsoft today unleashed updates to plug a whopping 161 security vulnerabilities in Windows and related software, including three “zero-day” weaknesses that are already under active attack. Redmond’s inaugural Patch Tuesday of 2025 bundles more fixes than the company has shipped in one go since 2017.

You run windows?......the above makes for a scary read

This is what's visible and known, but there might be far more unknown holes.
It's great Linux exists.

its not the unknown, what really should frighten Windows users are the patches for security holes that have been known about since the days of XP that they are just getting round to fixing some 25 years later

If you're referring to unpatched holes in Windows I agree, MS has only recently take patching holes more seriously, since the birth of Windows defender to be precise.

Compared to times when 3rd party AV's dominated security in Windows this means they care about security only since Windows 10, all previous releases lived in gray zone.

the problem is the inception of windows. it is flawed from the start. Take a look at it. It is simply a GUI to cover DOS. That was the original inception and it was built around one user so security was not an issue. It has not changed since then. Sure it has pretty interfaces and complicated things designed to give you the placebo effect of security. But it was built around DOS which had minimal security and designed for one user.
Now look at Linux. came from Unix and was originally designed with multiple users in mind. Security was designed in the very lowest level base of the system. It also has not changed but that is because it does not need to.
I am aware of problems in windows from the days of windows 3.11 that still exist today and not been fixed. Windows is very scary. But then what do you expect from a system made from paper clips and tape.

Not concerned about linux vulnerabilities. Most are minor and I use Fedora so patched fast.

It's just for some perspective. Linux has many security vulnerabilities being found. Though, from a technical standpoint, they're averaging greater than a 5. I'm not sure that's 'minor'. They're rated on a scale of 1 to 10.

One big thing with Linux is that many of the vulnerabilities require a physical presence. So, unless you've got an Evil Maid you're probably all good - most of the time.

This is also just the kernel. I guess the Windows version of that might be vulnerabilities that impacted the explorer.exe process.
