I have an Asus Vivobook 15 which has a MediaTek MT7921 Wifi card (I think it is that model, I know it is MediaTek), and no ethernet port.
I have a kali 2021.4a usb live image, on which wifi works jankily (I will make a separate thread about that). However, I am trying to install debian 11 as a permanent distro and it does not seem to have the fw for this wifi card.
There is this post here which seems relevant (albeit for ubuntu): https://linux.org/threads/solved-wi...6-mt7921-wireless-lan-card.37699/#post-142100
However, even if I put those fw files in to the folder, debian still does not recognise the wifi card.
I also had a look in the kali files and that image does have the same files (plus more) in the /lib/firmware/mediatek/ folder.
I have also updated my debian kernal to 5.15, but that didn't seem to make a difference either.
What steps am I missing?
Any help would be appreciated.
