I've followed many tutorials to try and get Lubuntu to boot on my old windows xp computer. it is above all of the minimum specs.
The process i followed:
1. I downloaded the file from the lubuntu website named: lubuntu-16.04.1-alternate-i386.iso
2. i downloaded rufus 2.18 (latest version supported by windows xp)
3. inserted empty usb drive (formatted to FAT32)
4. used rufus to do what it does. (I'm not 100% sure what rufus does, but in rufus I selected the empty USB stick and the Lubuntu file. It then but varios files onto the usb stick and changed the name to the same name as the original lubuntu file.
5. reset and set things in bios to boot from USB-HDD (there was also another menu where i could choose where to boot from, i also but that on USB-HDD)
6. Boots windows XP like nothing happened.
If someone can show me a video or tell me what im doing wrong/the correct method please do.
