What is the lost+found directory on an ext4 used for? Is it used at all and if it's not, is it OK if I delete it? Yesterday I migrated almost all of my partitions to ext4 and noticed that all ext4's have this empty directory.

This page may also help your understanding. I would not delete those directories. They take up very little space and may be vital in recovery of important files at some point.

My experience is that you delete them they just come right back. Debian and ext4.

Can't stop long now as about to head off for my evening meal DownUnder.

You can in fact delete them, once you have established that either there is nothing in them, or nothing of value.

Code:
sudo rm -rf lost+found
