I have just joined linux to seek help. my old windows xp has gradually cut my access to most games, video recordings and HTML5 files. I am hoping to find a solution through/with the help of linux but really do not know much about computers. any simple suggestions for me?

I would back up all important files that you have on your xp system and try out some Linux distributions. If you don't know much about computers, i'd try something like Linux Mint as it's one of the easiest to get around..

You would want to download their distribution here:
https://www.linuxmint.com/download.php

Likely, you'd want the Cinnamon version in either 32 or 64 bit depending on your computer.. since it resembles windows a bit.. has the 'start' menu, etc..

Their installation documentation is here: https://www.linuxmint.com/documentation/user-guide/Cinnamon/english_18.0.pdf

Let us know how that part goes. If you have any questions we'll help you along! Make sure to back up anything important first though - Linux will replace everything currently on your computer.
