Well, as the subject title states, I'm looking for a colorful (non-flat) icon theme. Any suggestions? I'd prefer it to be in Debian's repos. Thanks.

What do you mean with "non-flat"?

Flat is what I don't want. :)

I was asking if anyone knew offhand a good non-flat from Debian's repos to alleviate searching for one (not that I want anyone to do work for me). But I just searched in synaptic and found one called faenza icon theme which looks like it'll do. But if anyone knows of another, please chime in.

I misread then. Then something like this?

I'm another that absolutely loathes the current "flat" icon fad. Horrible looking things.

That said, I've never been a fan of themes, either.

My favourite period for icons was the Vista/Win 7 era, when icons were three-dimensional, with shadows & highlights, and really were wee images that truly represented what they were supposed to be.

I have a directory with an eclectic collection of almost a thousand assorted PNG icons, mostly garnered through hundreds and hundreds of Google/DuckDuckGo searches over perhaps a 15-yr period. And if I can't find something that'll do for what I want.....I'll make it myself.

But I have NO time for the currently available icons out there. Don't like 'em!

You might find non-flat icons by searching for the term Skeumorphic (think mid-2000's icons with depth, 3D, and that resemble objects rather than flat representations)

Here is a handful:

Lololol!!!

Man, what ARE we coming to, huh? At one time, that's just how icons were. They were the same no matter what you ran.....and now, because a new fashion has taken over, the "old" type have a fancy name to differentiate them from the "new" type.

Ah, well. That's evolution, I guess.....or "progress", as some would have it..! Generations come, generations go; things change, as time passes.

Nothing to see here, folks. Moving on.....

I still have a soft spot for skeumorphism myself, I loved the Aqua design style of interface and icons in macOS X on my old iMac, though the limited color palette pixel art icons of the 90's and early 2000's also have a place in my heart!
