live cd linux that will run 'inside' windows

Hi. I'm new to linux and I just want to try it out without messing around with the hard drive, installing new software, or always rebooting my Win 7 64 bit PC. Are there any flavors of Linux that can start from a CD/DVD while my PC is running, so Windows will just be running in the background. I just want to be able to put the CD/DVD in and have it 'sense' my current configurations and run.

A lot of distros will run in virtual box or vmware from within windows.

I would also recommend going and grabbing virtual box. It is free and will give you a much better idea of what it is like to run linux. With a virtual machine it is just like your installing it on a real computer.
